A single engine plane crash in the Kingswood Lake Road area of neighboring Breckinridge County killed two passengers in the craft on Thursday night.

Jim and Pat Staples of Shepherdsville, ages 71 and 68 respectively, were travelling in the Beech 31 aircraft when it crashed. Both were killed upon impact.

The bodies have been transported to the state medical exmainer's office in Lousiville for autopsy.

The plane apparently went down shortly before 9 p.m. According to reports from the scene, debris hung in the trees and was scattered around the densely wooded area, making location of the plane difficult for rescue workers.

Despite the search and preliminary ivestigation, no cause has yet been determined for the cause of the crash.

Investigators from the FAA arrived at the crash site on Friday morning. Additional investigators from manufacturer of the plane and its engine will arrive on Saturday to determine if any malfunction in the craft occured.
