One Clarkson man was killed and another injured in a single vehicle wreck on the Western Kentucky Parkway Friday morning.

Randel Sanders, 42, was driving in the eastbound lane of the WK Parkway when he ran over a segment of tire tread on the pavement.

Sanders lost control of the car, causing it to run sideways into a bridge abutment.

The passenger, John Popham, 46, suffered "severe" injuries from the accident.

Both men were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, where Popham was admitted and Sanders died shortly after arrival.

No information on funeral arrangements for Sanders was available at press time.
