For the girls, eighth-graders Christie Bolton and Sarah Rae Killingbeck were named Co-Players of the Day by Head Coach Sherry Vincent. Bolton and Killingbeck both won their singles matches by identical 8-6 scores against the Red Devils' top two players.
The two girls then teamed up with other doubles partners to win two more games. Bolton and sophomore Abby Watkins defeated Owensboro's number-one doubles team, Amanda Thaxton and Liz Blandford, 8-6.
Killingbeck and her partner, eighth-grader Hannah Vincent, blanked Latasia Willis and Kaycee Black 8-0.
For the boys, the Player of the Day was junior Andrew Stinson, who picked up the only point for the Cougars by defeating Rick Carlisle 8-4.
It was a tough day for the Cougars. Despite playing well and being in nearly every match, the Red Devils prevailed in all but Stinson's match.
