Thirteen Grayson County Middle School Band students earned positions in the 2003 KMEA 3rd District All-District Band. They were selected from a huge pool of students from around 20 schools who auditioned for the band on Sat., Jan. 25, at Green County High School.

Selected from GCMS were:

8th graders -- Amy Bryant, Katie Cartwright, Sarah Rae Killingbeck, Jana Knight, Kelly Majors, Alex Priest, Tara Riley, and Daniel Roof.

7th graders -- Keith Madden, Emily McKinney, Tina Pettrey, Alyssa Small, and Megan Williamson.

Additionally, some of these GCMS band students not only made the band, but placed in the top "chairs" in the district. Sarah Rae Killingbeck earned lst chair honors as the second-highest scoring flute of 57 flutes who auditioned. Daniel Roof, percussionist, and Keith Madden, a 7th-grade trombonist, were also lst chairs, after earning the highest scores in their sections
