The ice storm that hit eastern Kentucky last week broke trees and power lines and caused thousands to be without electricity. Employees from Warren Rural Electric Cooperative were among the first to respond to help the employees of Clark Energy, Fleming-Mason RECC and Grayson RECC restore power to their member-customers.

"We are proud that our employees volunteered to help those in need. An ice storm is one of the most dangerous situations our employees are asked to face," said Tim Rhoades, district manager of Warren RECC Leitchfield office.

"These employees worked long, hard hours in icy conditions to replace poles and lines that had been damaged by the ice. There were 19 employees from our Bowling Green, Morgantown, Leitchfield and Franklin offices who traveled to eastern Kentucky to help."

Leitchfield employees Scott Bratcher, Kish Browning, Bruce Dowlsing and Pete Graham worked with the Fleming-Mason RECC crews for some 10 days helping to restore power to that northeastern Kentucky area. The commitment of these employees as well as their families and the other employees who remained at home to cover the extra work load caused by their absence are to commended for their efforts.

The Pike Construction contract crews that normally work for Warren RECC responded to a call for help from Kentucky Utilities in Lexington. All crews should return home this weekend.
