A Leitchfield man died Wednesday, Feb. 5, after he fell and hit his head during a basketball game. According to Coroner Ronald Hudson, Steve Earls, 35, was playing basketball at the Clarkson Elementary School gym when he fell backwards hitting his head. Clark-son First Responders and Grayson County EMS were called to the scene around 8 p.m. GC EMS transported Earls to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m. by Hudson. According to Hudson, the autopsy report revealed Cardio Myopathy as the cause of death. Cardio Myopathy is a disintegration of the heart tissues.
