City utility workers called the Leitchfield Fire Department to the scene of a gas leak on Monday, Jan. 6, just before 2 p.m., as a precaution.

The leak was located at the corner of Broadway and West Walnut streets in Leitchfield.

According to Leitchfield Fire Chief Ronald Hudson, the rusty, steel gas line sprang a leak due to corrosion.

Firemen were on the scene for about 30 minutes while utility crews repaired the spewing gas line.

Leitchfield police officers assisted in traffic control.

No injuries or property damage resulted from the gas leak.
