Troopers will be conducting traffic safety evaluations on roadways in Grayson and surrounding counties over the next month, with an emphasis on the New Year's holiday.
The evaluations will be conducted on holiday nights and weekends, when impaired driving traffic is at a maximum.
Officers may also initiate checkpoints or roadblocks at other times during the period to deter motorists from drinking and driving.
The primary focus of the safety checks will be to reduce the incidence of drug and alcohol impaired drivers, however, officers will also be emphasizing the use of child safety seats and seat belts.
Motorists can expect to see increased traffic enforcement patrols this area.
