The Planning Commission held a short meeting after the training to thank Mark Buckles, Kendall Clemons, and Keith Jones on the work they did for the North Annexation map.
Tim Butler presented The Comprehensive Plan to attending members. The Comprehensive Plan is required for zoning according to Kentucky Revision Statute (KRS) 100.183.
The plan must be reviewed every five years and amendments made be made as they are needed. If no amendments are needed the plan can be readopted as it stands.
Some components are required to be in the plan. These requirements are: A.) goals and objectives of the plan, B.) Land Use Plan element or map, C.) Transportation Plan element or map, and D.) Community Facilities Plan element or map. Other elements can also be included.
The county needs include connecting old residential dead-ends to the second and third generation residential developments that are expanding the subdivisions. Such connections will need to be integrated with the city street plan.
The Comprehensive Plan also required research and to be adopted by the city council. An implementation section showing how the city will use the plan should be included also.
