Tom Goff is running for the office of County Attorney. He is a '77 graduate of GCHS. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Kentucky and Masters of Business Adminstration at Western Kentucky Univeristy before going to JurisDoctorate at Northern Kentucky University.
He was elected to the office of county attorney in 1987 and knows through experience that the position involves many different facets, each equally important.
Everyday is different. Goff may be in court one day working with prosecution and the next may a spent researching the best options for a matter concerning the fiscal court.
Goff is in court on Wednesday for Juvenile Court, Thursday is District Court and then there are trials once a week and Circuit court twice a month.
He says mostly his time is spent assisting people with problems. He spends time with families, neighbors, and spouses, listening to their problems and advising them on their options. He also has gotten to know a lot of the people in the county.
Goff tries to be fair and sees that the judicial system works. He also sees that office works for the people of the community.
In his 14 years of service he has made himself available to the public. "It's not a 9-5 or 8-4 job," says Goff.
He plans to continue keeping the office open on Saturdays for the benefit of the community. He is also available to the police when needed, which can be anytime.
Goff is committeed to serving the community well with a more efficient office and the same aggressive prosecution. Last year, child support was at $135,000. Now that figure is up $1.8 million dollars and still growing. Goff expects that number to hit $2 million.
The conviction rate on DUI offenses is better than any other county in the Lincoln Trail District.
Goff is proud to be part of the judicial system in Grayson County and is glad proud to work with the judges and police. He says Grayson County's jury members are the same as the other counties around.
Grayson County means business against law-breakers and Goff is proud to be able to serve the community.
