LEITCHFIELD -- Playing emotional and inspired volleyball, the Lady Cougar JV squad defeated Ohio County handily Thursday night, 15-7, 15-12.

Sophomore Amy Satterfield played a great game for the Lady Cougars, serving low and hard, hitting at the net effectively, setting her teammates and getting a key block at the net that scored the winning point of the first game.

After the visitors took an 0-2 lead on the first serve, Satterfield went to the line and opened with a pair of aces to knot things at 2-2. The Lady Eagles hit long on their next serve to give Grayson County the lead before they managed a sideout.

Ohio County tied it at 3-3, but the Lady Cougars then scored four straight to take a lead they never relinquished. Satterfield had two more kills as Grayson County ran its lead to 9-5.

The visitors put up one more point before the Cougars scored three straight to go up 12-6. Ohio County added one more point on its next serve, but Satterfield had another kill for the sideout and it was all Cougars afterward.

With Amber Brown serving at 12-7, Satterfield saved a low ball toward the back court and hit it perfectly to the back of the Eagle defense for a point. Then, at game point, the fiery redhead got up to block the Lady Eagle hitter and the ball fell into the Eagle's court for the winner.

The second game was very close, with the Lady Eagles holding the lead in the early going. Ohio led 4-6, when Brown served three points to give the Cougars a 7-6 lead.

Ohio went back on top 7-8 before Morgan Downs served three straight points that gave the Lady Cougars a lead they never gave back. Downs had a pair of aces in the run.

The Eagles scored one more to cut the margin to one, then Morgan Larrimore served four straight to bring it to match point. Ohio got the sideout then made things interesting when Emily Hillard served three straight to make it 14-12.

That was it for the Eagles, though, as the Lady Cougars got the sideout and Terra Brooks served the final point.
