2002 Labor Day Parade winners announced

LEITCHFIELD -- Leitchfield saw its longest Labor Day Parade in most folks memory Monday, September 1st, 2002. The Grayson County Fair Board announced the winners and they are as follows:

    3rd- Gary Logsdon

  • Decorated Car & Truck

    1st- Lacey Jackson

    2nd- Clarkson Homemakers

    3rd- Leitchfield Healthcare Residential Council

  • Horse / Mule Drawn Vehicle

    1st- Joshua Tucker

    2nd- Ralph Meyers

    3rd- Geraldine Dowell

  • Antique Car (20 years old)

    1st- Herb & Patsy Swift

    2nd- Dustin King

    3rd- Buddy Logsdon

  • Antique Tractors

    1st- Doug & Tracy Dennison

    2nd- Jimmy Shartzer

    The annual parade attracted hundreds of folks to downtown Leitchfield. Many of the people riding on the floats tossed a massive amount of candy to the throngs of kids gathered for the parade. Most of the candy made it to the awaiting children, only a few pieces were flattened by the parading vehicles.

    "This was the largest, longest parade I can remember," said an onlooker.
