Joyce said the rides leave at different times according to the season and weather, but, most usually leave the store on Brandenburg Road around 6:45a.m. in the winter months and around 6:00 a.m. in the spring and summer.
The rides aren't limited to only Saturdays. The Embrys and others around the County put thousands of miles on their two wheeled transportation during a years time. "We average around 6,000 miles per year and we have a friend in Radcliff who puts 10,000 per year on a bike, but he's far above average."
Joyce went on to say that most of their group averages around a 15 to 16 miles per hour speed on most trips. "But, we have routes laid out where beginning riders can make the trips without any problems." Locally they have routes laid out from four miles in length up to a 28 mile round trip. Many of the riders take a trip out Salt River Road to Beaver Dam Creek Road and then through Mulberry Flats to Clarkson and back to the store. "At any point in this ride riders can stop and turn back. Also, there aren't many big hillclimbs on that route," added Joyce.
She said that a lot of out of town folks stop in the store and ask, "Where do you ride, the area is beautiful." Look for more on bike routes in following issues of the News-Gazette.
