GRAYSON COUNTY JUDICIAL BUILDING, LEITCHFIELD -- The January sitting of the Grayson County Grand Jury returned indictments on nine people Friday, January 4th, 2002.
Russell W. Decker, age 47, of Clagget Road, Leitchfield, was indicted on charges of possession of a controlled substance first degree (demerol), possession of a controlled substance third degree (zanax), and trafficking in alcoholic beverages in a dry territory. The charges stem from a late November raid on bootlegging operations in Grayson County by the Grayson County Sheriff's Department.
Garry P. Hockenbury, age 26, of Hollow Drive, Leitchfield, was indicted on two counts of assault in the first degree and for being a persistent felony offender in the second degree. A $15,000 cash bond secured by 10% cash was set for Hockenbury's release.
Amil Andrew Smith, age 77, of Cave Creek Road, Falls of Rough, was indicted on charges of sexual abuse first degree, rape first degree and sodomy first degree. The charges stem from alleged sexual misconduct with a girl 12 years of age. An arrest warrant was issued for Smith and bond is set at $100,000, full cash.
Bobbie Markwell, age 31, of Morgantown, was indicted on charges of fragrant nonsupport. Being in arrears of more than $4,000 on her two minor children. An arrest warrant was issued for Markwell.
Andrew Swift, age 27, of Leitchfield, was indicted on charges of flagrant nonsupport for being in arrears of more than $1,600 on his minor child. A court summons was issued for Swift.
Kenneth Cannon, age 26, of Leitchfield, was indicted on charges of flagrant nonsupport being i arrears of more than $8,900 on his minor child.
Thomas W. Neidrich, age 37, of Leitchfield, was indicted on charges of obtaining a controlled substance by deception. The charge stemmed from the passing of an altered prescription at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Leitchfield. A $25,000 cash bond was set for Neidrich's release.
Mark Hopper, age 46, of Louisville, was indicted on charges of trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces while in possession of a firearm. An arrest warrant was issued for Hopper.
Michael R. Shutt, age 46, of Louisville, was indicted on charges of trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces while in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia while in possession of a firearm, speeding, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and or other controlled substances. The charges stem from a traffic stop made by sheriff's deputies on the Western Kentucky Parkway. An arrest warrant was issued for Shutt.
Freeman Kline, of New Albany, Indiana, was indicted on charges of theft by deception, over $300. The indictment alleged he issued a check for $8,000 to Victor Duvall knowing it would not be honored by the issuing bank. An arrest warrant was issued for Kline.
