CLARKSON -- Seven people were injured in a four vehicle crash on U.S. 62 near where Clarkson and Leitchfield city limits meet.

The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 17th in the "beehive curve" said Clarkson Police Officer Shawn Lee.

Lee stated that apparently a vehicle driven by Jennifer M. White, age 20, of Leitchfield was traveling east on U.S. 62 when White lost control of her vehicle and struck another vehicle being driven by William E. Nelson, age 30, of Clarkson.

The crash caused Nelson to lose control of his vehicle, stated Lee. Another vehicle driven by Ruth C. Hart, age 60, of Big Clifty, was also east bound on U.S. 62. Hart then careened and struck the Nelson vehicle.

Meanwhile, the White vehicle continued out of control and struck yet another vehicle driven by Susie J. O'Neal, age 21, of Leitchfield.

A Special Deputy for the Grayson County Sheriff's Office happened up on the accident and immediately called the E-911 Dispatch Office for emergency response.

Grayson County EMS, the Clarkson Fire Department, the Clarkson Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff's Deputies, the leitchfield Police Department and the State Highway Department all responded to the emergency call, said officer Lee.

The EMS office had a total of four ambulances on the scene. The crews provided first aid at the scene and later transported seven victims to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Three of the injured were passengers in the Nelson vehicle; Amy Nelson, age 25, William Jr. age 6 and Travis, age 3. The drivers of each vehicle were also injured and transported.

The extent of the injuries to the accident victims was unknown at press time Tuesday, December 18th.
