TWIN LAKES AREA -- A year or two of declining participation in the National Wild Turkey Federation's Twin Lakes Chapter has brought a call for reorganization of the local club.

According to a memo sent from NWTF regional director Pat Cardin, local members of the NWTF have an opportunity to get in on the ground floor and develop the chapter to suit its needs. "There is so much the chapter can do in the community and we don't want to lose all the benefits a local chapter brings to the area," stated Cardin.

Cardin also stated that the local chapter has $400 in seed money. These funds are used to establish food plots for wild turkey. The chapter also has $500 available for a local 4-H Shooting Sports Team. "If there is no local team at this time, what an incentive to help boost its start. The chapter also has access to an Education box that can be given to elementary students. It helps them learn about the wild turkey in a classroom environment.

There is also money available for the Jakes and Women in the Outdoors programs, if the chapter votes to hold any of these events.

The last two meetings have left the chapter with a newly established board; David Mercer, Falls of Rough, is the new President. Pat Payton was elected Vice-President and co-chairman of the Banquet Committee. Connard Spencer is also co-chair of the banquet Committee. Becky Mercer is Secretary / Treasurer of the chapter.

Tentative dates for the next meeting and the annual banquet have been set. The next meeting date is Tuesday, January 8th. The banquet is set for March 16th.
