An accident claims the life of a Clarkson man

A single-vehicle collision claimed the life of a Clarkson man late Friday night.

According to a report from Leitchfield City Police Detective Kevin Smith, the Leitchfield Police Department received a report of an accident involving one vehicle on Salt River Rd around 11:22 p.m. on Friday night.

The vehicle, operated by Mark Klineline, 52, of Clarkson,on left the roadway for an unknown reason on the eastbound side of Salt River Road. The accident occurred just east of the intersection of the William H. Thomason Byway.

The 1998 Chevy S-10 truck struck a headwall and upon impact, the vehicle overturned, reported Smith

Klineline, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, said Smith.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grayson County Coroner Deputy Coroner Howard Tomes. He was taken to the medical examiners for an autopsy

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation by the Leitchfield Police Department.

It amazes me how many people are being killed in crashes simply because they chose to not use a seat belt. What is sad is when a sometimes minor accident happens and someone is seriously injured or killed the other vehicle involved has to live with the death not to mention the family of the dead.
