An accident early Monday morning claimed the life of a Leitchfield woman.

According to a report from the Clarkson Police department, Patricia Stinnet Kerwick, 54 of Leitchfield, was traveling east on Highway 62 when her 2006 PT Cruiser dropped off the edge of the roadway.

Clarkson Police Chief Jeff King said, “Witnesses reported around 8:10 a.m. Kerwick overcorrected and the vehicle crossed the road. The Cruiser then hit a ditch and overturned several times, throwing Kerwick completely clear of the vehicle.”

Grayson County Emergency Medical Services transported Kerwick, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with multiple injuries, reported King.

She was then taken to University of Louisville Hospital by helicopter where she died.

The Leitchfield Police Department as well as Leitchfield Fire Department assisted with the accident.
