The Caneyville City Commission selected the scoreboards for the new Caneyville ball park and announced its endorsement of a contract with RC at the regularly scheduled March 11 meeting. A truck belonging to Foster’s Propane was stolen early Friday morning from an employee’s residence, according to Grayson County Sheriff Rick Clemons. Clemons said that a Ford F250 marked with the company’s stickers was taken from the home of a service technician on Snyder Lane. The Leitchfield Police Department is currently investigating two burglaries that occurred between March 1 and March 4. The perpetrators entered the Grayson County Head Start building on Clinton Street and stole a number of items, including a laptop computer, according to a press release from the LPD. On January 22, 64-year-old Leitchfield resident Russell Mercer was sentenced to ten years in prison for arson and insurance fraud. According to a press release, on November 10, 2010, Mercer had hired his ex-brother-in-law Tom Lashley, 46, to burn some property, after which the two men would share the insurance money. The Grayson County Historical Society was recently able to refurbish three historical site markers within the county through private donations and a Kentucky Historical Society program which covers 20 percent of the cost for each marker.
