Theresa Cipolla, 53, of Leitchfield, was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking in reference to an investigation conducted by the Leitchfield Police Department.
The charges originated from a complaint made by the Ohio Mills Corporation (OMC), a company that operates charitable collection bins and distributes a portion of the proceeds raised from the bins to the Kentucky Special Olympics, according to a press release from the LPD.
The OMC said that collections from the bins in the Leitchfield area had been down and requested that extra patrol be performed around the bins due to suspicions of theft, the release read.
On Sunday, April 28, police observed Cipolla removing items from the collection bins and placing them in her vehicle for personal gain, according to the release.
This investigation is currently ongoing and additional suspects and charges may be pending.
The LPD also recently arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree Falls of Rough resident Janice Lynn Ardt, according to the LPD’s release.
On Tuesday, March 5, Ardt is reported as having presented a document to Grayson County School Officials in order to obtain an excused absence for her juvenile child.
