The trolleys that once ferried people to and from the Kentucky State Championship Old Time Fiddlers Contest have found a new home.
Members of Leitchfield’s Tourism Commission learned Tuesday morning that the trolleys, which were used to shuttle people from the parking areas at Rough River Dam State Resort Park to the performance areas, are being given to Leitchfield.
Tourism director Ilsa Johnson said one of the trolleys has some mechanical issues and probably would be used for in a stationary capacity, while the others would be used in parades and other functions.
In other action the commission:
* Learned cost estimates for both building and operating an indoor swimming pool are coming in higher than anticipated. Work continues with consultants to see what options can be used to lower costs.
* Approved spending up to $200 to help buy lunch or refreshments for Leadership Grayson County. The program is designed to allow the leaders of today and potential leaders of tomorrow to learn more about our community through lectures, panel discussions, tours and hands-on experiences.
Class members explore specific areas of the community in-depth, including government, law and justice, tourism, economic development, health care, education and more.
