A Sunday afternoon traffic stop left a Grayson County man in jail on suspicion making methamphetamine.
Matthew Wilson, 31, of Kefauver Road, was being held in the Grayson County Detention Center late Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) first offense, and manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense. Bond had not yet been set on either charge.
Deputy Buck Meredith of the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department said Wilson’s arrest stemmed from an investigation that started when he and Clarkson Police Chief Jeff King stopped a car around 4:30 p.m. on KY 88, at the edge of the city limits of Clarkson.
Wilson, a passenger in the car, was detained following the traffic stop. Meredith said he then contacted Deputy Adam Cottrell and Special Deputy Joey Beasley and asked that they secure the outside of Wilson’s home while a judge was contacted about authorizing a search warrant.
When the deputies had the warrant and were able to enter the home, they didn’t find an active meth lab but did find “numerous precursers” and other items used in making the drug, Meredith said.
