Myron Weedman, of Leitchfield Maintenance, was recently honored by the City for his sixteen years of public service.
During the Leitchfield City Council’s regularly-scheduled Monday, May 20 meeting, Mayor William Thomason presented a gift to Weedman on behalf of the City and discussed Weedman’s many contributions to the City, including his maintenance work for James D. Beville City Park and Dewitt Park.
In addition, City Public Works Director Darrell Harrell presented a plaque to Weedman on behalf of Public Works.
A retirement celebration was also held for Weedman after the conclusion of the City Council meeting.
In response to his being honored, Weedman said, “I appreciate it, Mayor and the Council.”
Weedman went on to say of his work, “It was not just a job, it was an adventure. because you never knew what you’d be doing when you came into work that day.”
Due to health issues, Weedman was forced into early retirement on April 16 of this year.
“It’s kind of bittersweet,” said his wife, County Clerk Sherry Weedman. “He really wanted to stay.”
