A head-on vehicle collision claimed the life of 27-year-old Falls of Rough resident, Steven Puckett, on the morning of Tuesday, March 5.
At approximately 7:50 a.m. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department requested a Kentucky State Police reconstructionist to work a two-vehicle accident on Ready Jackson Road about five miles southwest of Caneyville, reported Master Trooper Norman Chaffins.
A 2004 Honda Civic driven by 27-year-old Puckett was eastbound on Ready Jackson Road approaching a small hill near the 1800 block.
In the westbound lane a 2006 Pontiac G6 operated by 25-year-old Danielle L. Preston of Caneyville also approached the small hill.
As both vehicles topped the hill they met in the center of the roadway and struck one another head-on.
The Civic came to final rest in a ditch on the eastbound side while the G6 came to final rest in the ditch on the westbound side.
Puckett was killed instantly in the collision.
Preston suffered injuries to her lower extremities and was transported to The Medical Center in Bowling Green by the Grayson County Emergency Medical Services.
Chaffins, who investigated the crash, was assisted by the Caneyville Fire Department and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department.
Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson said Puckett passed away as a result of multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the accident.
Hudson said Puckett was driving unrestrained at the time of the accident.
