Three men were cited for DUIs following two wrecks this weekend on Grayson County roadways.

Kentucky State Police responded to a one-vehicle wreck near the 8600 block of Falls of Rough Road just before 9 p.m. on Friday, April 4.

The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Anthony Frank of Falls of Rough, was found to have sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to a press release from KSP Master Trooper Norman Chaffins.

Investigating Trooper Brad Riley concluded that Frank’s 1984 Dodge pickup was northbound on KY 79 when it ran off of the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned. The vehicle struck a tree and came to a final rest in the front yard of a residence.

Frank was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and was later transferred to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Frank was found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident and was charged with DUI, first offence; driving with no operator’s license; possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle; and failure to wear a seat belt.

According to Chaffins, a relative of Frank’s, who was not named in the release, was also arrested for driving under the influence when he drove to the scene to check on Frank.

In a separate incident just hours later, at approximately 1:42 a.m. Saturday morning, another DUI-related wreck occurred around three miles west of Leitchfield on Owensboro Road.

A 1992 Toyota Camry being operated by 25-year-old Charles M. Colemore, of Penner Drive in Leitchfield, was headed west on KY 54 when his vehicle ran off of the left side of the roadway, according to the accident report field with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

Colemore then lost control of the vehicle, the report stated, and struck a concrete drainage tile before overturning and coming to a rest in the ditch on its top.

The responding deputy found Colemore to have a strong smell of alcohol, and beer was discovered inside the vehicle.

Colemore was transported by Grayson County EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical center where he was turned over to Air Methods for a flight to University of Louisville’s Emergency Room for treatment of head injuries.

Colemore was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was partially ejected from the vehicle, the report said.
