H. W. Wilkey Elementary School hosted a kick-off event for the new Toyota bornlearning Academy program which is being made possible by a generous donation from Toyota.

Ten schools state-wide were chosen for the pilot program, which has the goal of empowering parents and caregivers to create a top-notch learning atmosphere for children up to the age of five. The idea behind the program is to ensure that kids are well-prepared upon entering school so that they are more likely to succeed in their educational endeavours.

Working with United Way, the schools hosting this program will hold sessions for parents in order to give them the tools they need to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. Children are encouraged to attend the sessions as well, and there are events for the entire family.
