The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department seized a large quantity of marijuana plants which were planted in the Layman Road area on Saturday, August 11.
According to Sheriff Rick Clemons, who was assisted at the scene by Chief Deputy Tony Willen and Special Deputies Dave Colston, Pat Newton and Joey Beasley, the illegal plants translated to a street value of roughly $150,000.
The plants were removed from the site and were then destroyed by the officers according to protocol.
No arrests have been made yet in conjunction with the operation, but a full investigation is currently underway by the GCSD.
Clemons said that the location of the plants was discovered by Special Deputy Joey McClung, who routinely flies over the county looking for the plants.
‘We spot most of ours from the air,” Clemons explained, “but we do operate on tips as well.”
