A Caneyville woman and her passenger were injured when their SUV overturned on Beaver Dam Road on Thursday evening after swerving to avoiding hitting a dog in the roadway.
21-year-old Amanda J. Embry, of Wilson Church Road in Caneyville, was travelling west on US 62 (Beaver Dam Road) at approximately 7:10 p.m. when she swerved to miss the animal, according to the testimony she gave Deputy Bryan Hammons, who responded from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department.
Embry’s 2001 Dodge Durango went off of the right shoulder of the roadway, and then came back into her lane before crossing over the yellow line and travelling off of the left side of the roadway.
The vehicle overturned after leaving the road.
Embry, along with her passenger, 33-year-old Leslie S. Smith, Jr., of Johnson Street in Leitchfield, were both transported to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center ER for treatment.
Embry and Smith each sustained multiple possible injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident, according to the accident report filed with the Sheriff’s Department.
