The Grayson County Chamber of Commerce is using a new tool to promote local restaurants. The “Lunch Mob” is an event scheduled each month when Chamber members are encouraged to meet up at that a particular area eatery for lunch from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The group will be helping to drum up business using social media, like Facebook, to encourage friends, family and co-workers to stop by for a great meal and a chance to “network with the board members, ambassadors and your Chamber director,” according to the group’s newsletter.

The first lunch mob was held on Wednesday at BB’s Italian Restaurant, owned by Anthony and Judy Vincent, of Leitchfield.

According to Chamber of Commerce Director Tara Elder, the event was a great start for the program, and the business owners were “really pleased with it; they were really happy.”

Around 30 Chamber members showed up for lunch.

“The members really enjoyed it,” Elder said, adding that she received comments from lots of people who saw the event popping up on friends’ Facebook pages and were “happy to see the community supporting something like that.”

Next month’s lunch has not yet been scheduled, but will be announced in an upcoming Chamber newsletter.
