TEn people were indicted recently in Grayson COunty CIrcuit Court, including a Louisville man, William Edward Mitchell, 33, who was accused of stealing jewelry from a corpse at the Dermitt-Joyce FUneral Home in Caneyville.

Mitchell also purportedly stole items from a vehicle outside of the funeral home on East Maple Street.

The Commonwealth recommended a $10,000 bond, with 10 percent of that bond cash, for Mitchell.

Nine others were also indicted along with Mitchell on charges stemming from seven separate incidents:

- John H. Embrey, Sr., 36, and Peggy L. Embrey, 38 of Yeaman Road in Caneyville, was indicted on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (meth), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

John was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

The Embreys’ charges stem from an alleged June 16 incident in which an anonymous tip led police officers to their home, where one complete meth lab was discovered in a trash can inside the residence and another incomplete lab was found outside of the home.

John is being held on a $30,000 cash bond, while Peggy is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.

- Carlos Mercer, 44, of Warren Purcell Road in Leitchfield, was indicted for manufacturing methamphetamine, second or greater offense; and being a persistent felony offender in the first degree.

Court documents allege that Mercer was found to be manufacturing the drug on or around May 24.

Along with Mercer, Jody Grant, 37, of Wax Road in Clarkson, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in relation to the same incident.

A $20,000 bond was set for Mercer as well as Grant.

- Tex R. Basham, 47, of Kefauver Road in Millwood, was indicted on one charge of sexual abuse in the first degree.

Basham’s charge stems from an incident purported to have occurred on June 10, during which he subjected another person to sexual contact through the use of force.

- Joseph R. Holder, 27, of Ledbetter, was indicted on one charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property from an automobile.

The alleged incident occurred on April 30, when the Holder is accused of taking a tire and wheel off of a 2004 Chevy Truck belonging to Billy Henning, according to court documents.

Shane E. Johnson, 26, of Ledbetter, was also charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property from an automobile in relation to the same theft as Holder. Johnson, additionally, was charged with being a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

- William Stevenson, 32, of Sequoia Drive in Leitchfield, was indicted on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property, burglary in the first degree, and being a persistent felony offender in the second degree.

Stevenson is alleged to have stolen a firearm from Wal-Mart on or about June 11.

A $15,000 cash bond was set for Stevenson.

- Misty Forshee, 34, of Bowling Green, was indicted for flagrant non-support, for purportedly persistently failing to provide child support for her two minor children, aged 11 and 12. Forshee is alleged to owe more than $18,000 in back child support.

The Commonwealth recommended a $10,000 unsecured bond be set for Forshee, and ordered her to pay current child support as ordered.

- David Hughes, 35, of Indian Valley Road in Falls of Rough, was indicted on a charge of flagrant non-support for allegedly failing to provide child support for his two minor children, aged 10 and 1.

Hughes is accused of owing more than $6,600 in back child support, and was held on a $10,000 unsecured bond and ordered to pay current child support as required.
