Grayson Countians lined up out the door of the Leitchfield Centre on Main, when it housed a successful Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) fair on Tuesday, April 23.

ECTC brought its college fair to the Centre on Main to introduce the people of Leitchfield to what the college offers - especially the new Walter T. Kelley ECTC campus in Leitchfield (henceforth to be referred to as the “Kelley campus”), which will be open and offering classes in the upcoming fall semester, according to ECTC Workforce Transitions Coordinator Beth Roberts.

Representatives from several of ECTC’s educational programs and student services offices attended the fair to set up booths and answer questions from prospective students. Individuals from all of ECTC’s technical programs, general education classes to be offered at the Kelley campus, developmental studies, adult education, admissions, and financial aid attended, said Beth Roberts.

ECTC Admissions Counselor Amber Roberts was also in attendance to help prospective students become better acquainted with the college application process. Amber Roberts said applications can be found online at ECTC’s website, and numerous community members had shown a great deal of excitement about the opening of the new campus so close to where they live.

“People are really excited to learn that, if nothing else, they can save money on gas for their first semester,” Amber Roberts said. In addition, she said enough classes will be offered at the Kelley campus that students will be able to take their entire first semester, if not first full school year, there.

ECTC Associate Professor of Psychology and Caneyville resident Tracy Bratcher was on hand at the fair to hand out the complete schedule for the fall semester at the Kelley campus and represent the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department.

Bratcher said she is excited for the opening of the new campus, which she said “is catching on in Leitchfield.”

Bratcher said she will be dividing her time between the Elizabethtown and Leitchfield campuses during the fall semester - the classes for which are currently scheduled to meet according from August 19 to December 15. Bratcher added that she will be teaching a Monday night Introduction to Psychology class at the Kelley campus during the fall semester.

In addition to the faculty and staff informational booths, posters depicting the floor plan of the Kelley campus and an artist’s rendering of the college were set up in the center of the fair.

Grayson County Industrial Development Officer Dudley Cooper said the Kelley campus is being built “ready to add on to,” and ECTC is currently working toward having the campus ready for a building dedication on the morning of July 16.
