An Owensboro Road accident early Thursday morning led to the arrest of one man who is accused of having been driving under the influence.
At just after 3 a.m. on December 6, Sheriff Rick Clemons responded to a one-vehicle accident approximately six miles west of Leitchfield on Owensboro Road.
The driver of the car, 27-year-old Steffan R. Goldsberry, of Mahurin Cemetery Road in Falls of Rough, told Clemons that he had lost control of the vehicle after a deer ran into the roadway.
The 2001 Hyundai Tiburon, which was licensed to Breanna Goldsberry, of Falls of Rough, had left the roadway and struck a tree, causing moderate to severe damage to the vehicle.
Goldsberry suffered possible head and/or face injuries in the collision, and according to the accident report filed with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department he was wearing a seatbelt at the time and his airbag deployed.
According to Clemons, Goldsberry was subsequently arrested on a DUI-charge and was briefly lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
In a separate incident on Thursday afternoon, a Clarkson woman was injured in another one-vehicle accident.
Kyla D. Duchnowski, 21, was travelling west around one mile west of Big Clifty on Elizabethtown Road when the accident occurred, according to the report filed by Chief Deputy Tony Willen, with the GCSD.
Duchnowski told Willen that as she came upon a sharp curve, she applied her brake but was unable to steer the vehicle.
The 1995 GMC Jimmy left the roadway and struck a Windstream utility pole before hitting a tree and coming to a rest in the lawn of a home at 8311 Elizabethtown Road.
Duchnowski suffered possible abdominal injuries and was transported by Grayson County EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment.
