A Leitchfield man was severely injured when the gravel truck he was driving overturned on Post Tousey Road Thursday afternoon.

52-year-old Eddie P. Joyce was travelling up a small, curving hill approximately six miles south of Falls of Rough at just after 2 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the report filed with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

Joyce told the responding officer that he believed his tire had dropped off of the roadway, causing the 1987 Ford LT9000 to leave the roadway and roll over; however, the officer inspected the vehicle and believed that the tire had blown, leaving ruts in the roadway before the vehicle went into a ditch and overturned on the south-bound side of the road.

Joyce was incapacitated by multiple injuries and was treated at the scene by Grayson County EMS before being transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

A wreck later that day on Owensboro Road landed one man in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs after a nearby officer heard his vehicle collide with a utility pole.

According to the accident report with the GCSO, a deputy was at the 10000 block of Owensboro Road at just after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday when he ‘heard a loud crash and noticed sparks coming from an electric lien a short distance away.”

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer saw smoke coming from an overturned 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with the driver belted inside.

Two officers worked to quickly free 42-year-old Francis Bishop, of Edwards Cemetery Road in Falls of Rough, from the smoking vehicle.

The report states that Edwards’ truck ran off of the right shoulder of the roadway, at which point it appears that Edwards overcorrected and crossed the east-bound lane of traffic before moving back across the west-bound lane and into a ditch. Upon entering the ditch, the truck struck a road tile, causing it to overturn an unknown number of times.

The vehicle struck the guard wire of an electric pole, crossed a water way and came to a rest on it’s top, the report stated.

Bishop sustained possible leg injuries in the incident and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by Grayson County EMS. Bishop consented to a blood alcohol test at TLRMC and was subsequently ordered to appear in court for driving under the influence.

The truck he was driving was licensed to Jeanette Bishop, and was very severely damaged. Damage was also done to the utility pole, which belonged to WRECC.

Another WRECC pole was damaged four days later after being hit by a 2012 Ford Fusion on Peonia Road approximately seven miles east of Clarkson.

At approximately 9:48 a.m., 67-year old Patricia C. Webb, of Clarkson, was travelling west on Peonia Road when a dog ran into the roadway in front of her vehicle. Webb told the responding officer that she swerved right to avoid hitting the animal and left the roadway, striking a utility pole.

Webb was treated by Grayson County EMS for non-incapacitating chest injuries sustained in the accident, and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for further care.

Webb’s vehicle was severely damaged.
