Big Brothers Big Sisters scored big with the recent Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser.

The annual event, which was held at Rainbow Lanes on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, raised approximately $10,000 for the group’s Grayson County child/mentor matches, according to Community Engagement Branch Manager Kevin Clark.

“The dollars were a result of the generous bowlers, sponsors and donors in Grayson County,” Clark said, adding that “the teams really stepped up to help.”

Twelve bowling teams formed for this year’s event, with each team bringing in donations for the non-profit organization. The Bowl for Kids’ Sake event is the group’s largest contributor of funds each year.

Following the event, Clark wrote, “We are already planning several events coming up. These include match events (for the Bigs/Littles and those littles on the waiting list to get together,) Big recruitment events, events to increase our presence in Grayson County to get to those who might volunteer to be a Big and those families that may be in need of our services.”

“There’s still a lot of work to do in Grayson County but with the support that was given for Bowl for Kids’ Sake, it will be accomplished!” Clark said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a group which matches children up with a mentor who becomes a positive role model in their lives and participates in one-on-one and group activities with them throughout the year.

The money raised at this and other fundraisers goes toward creating and maintaining those matches with the goal of helping kids grow and succeed.
