Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center welcomed its four newest physicians Thursday afternoon, Sept. 20, with a reception.
More than 150 people — from hospital employees to community members — dropped by the greet hospitalists Samer Bleibel and Andrew Jenkins; nephrologist/hospitalist Hani Bleibel; and ear, nose and throat specialist Anil Arora.
Brothers Samer and Hani Bleibel attended medical school at Kursk State Medical University in their native Russia.
Samer Bleibel, who graduated in 2001, practiced internal medicine in Mississippi for several years before coming to Grayson County. Internal medicine specialists, also known as internists, focus primarily on treating adults and see patients for a variety of conditions and complaints. As a hsopitalist, he will only treat patients who’ve been admitted to the hospital.
In TLRMC’s hospitalist program, the hospitalists and patients’ private physicians collaborate on who cares for a hospitalized patient. The goal of the program is to have physicians at the facility and ready to respond to questions and concerns from patients and their families.
Hani Bleibel, who graduated in 2004, also initially planned to specialize in internal medicine. He shifted his focus, though, when their father developed kidney problems. He began a nephrology, or kidney, fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 2010, a year after his father was placed on a kidney transplant list. He donated a kidney to his father just days after the clinicial rotations in the first year of his fellowship program ended, completing his fellowship after recovering from the transplant surgery.
Jenkins is a 2007 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. he previously worked in family practice and internal medicine in the Indianapolis area.
Arora is an otolaryngologist, or physician who treats diseases and disorders that affect the ears, nose, throat, the respiratory and upper alimentary systems and related structures of the head and neck.
A 1998 graduate of the Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, he completed three fellowships in sleep apnea surgery, thyroid and parathyroid in New York and pediatric otolaryngology in Pittsburgh. He previously practiced in Dixon, Ill., and Omaha, Neb., where he was an assistant professor of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
