The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD), the Clarkson Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD), and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded.

The GCSD said four individuals, probably from Louisville, were inside the Impala at the time of the accident.

Injuries have been reported in this accident, but as of press time, no names have been released.

Shortly after the Impala overturned, the GCSD, CVFD, and EMS investigated a related accident that also occured near the 117 mile marker of the Western Kentucky Parkway at approximately 2:11 p.m.

According to an accident report by the GCSD, a blue Toyota Prius Hybrid slowed for traffic as a result of the Impala accident and was then rear-ended by a gray Audi A6, according to an accident report by the GCSD.

The driver of the Audi, 24-year-old Kelly Blankenship, of South Point, Ohio, told the GCSD that she was travelling west on the Parkway when traffic started to slow quickly in front of her, and she was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the Prius, the accident report read.

The report read that 5-year-old Dani Fitzpatrick and 1-month-old Natalie Hunt, both also from South Point, Ohio, were passengers in the Audi at the time of the accident. No injuries were reported for any of the Audi’s passengers.

The Audi’s owner, Curtis Hunt, of Huntington, West Virginia, was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident, the report read.

The driver and owner of the Prius, 68-year-old Robert Koester, of Leitchfield, told the GCSD he was slowing for traffic when he was rear-ended by by Blankenship, according to the report.

Robert Koester was reported as uninjured; however, 67-year-old Janet Koester, also from Leitchfield and a passenger in the Prius, told emergency personnel that she felt pain in her back and was taken by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for further medical attention, the report read.

Both vehicles were reported as disabled at the scene. The Audi was towed from the scene by Stevenson’s Wrecker Service, and the Prius was towed from the scene by King’s Wrecker Service, according to the accident report.
