One man was pronounced dead following a Bear Creek Road wreck on Saturday morning, Nov. 10.

According to Deputy Bryan Hammons of the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, 52-year-old Marshall E. Wages, of Radcliff, was travelling east on Bear Creek Road, about five miles south of Leitchfield when the incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m.

When Hammons arrived at the scene, he found Wages, who was the only occupant of the 2001 Ford Ranger, trapped inside of the vehicle, which was overturned.

Hammons noted that upon his arrival, Wages had no pulse.

“No skid marks were found to indicate a sudden stop for any reason,” according to the accident report filed at the Sheriff’s Office, and upon investigation, Hammons found that the truck appeared to have run off of the shoulder of the roadway before overturning on its top.

Wages, who had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was freed from the vehicle using non-mechanical means.

According to persons at the residence where Wages had been just before the accident, he had “complained of being dizzy” and had also broken out in a “cold sweat” prior to leaving.

Hammons stated that Coroner Joe Brad Hudson believed the accident may have been caused by an underlying medical condition, though tests results are currently pending.

In addition to Hudson, Hammons was also assisted at the scene by Grayson County EMS, Kentucky State Police and Leitchfield Fire Department.

The vehicle was removed from the scene by King’s Wrecker Service.
