A collision with a parked truck Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 25, scattered computer parts across part of Main Street and sent a car careening across two lanes and into a sign.
The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. According to police, William Stevenson, 80, of Leitchfield, was headed south on Main Street when his car hit the rear end of a pickup truck parked along the southwest side of the square, in front of The Computer Shop.
The force of the collision smashed the truck’s bed against the concrete planter curb, spilling some of the computer parts inside out onto the road.
Stevenson’s car continued across both lanes of traffic and struck a sign on the east side of South Main Street, just beyond Elder Wealth Management’s parking lot.
Police said Stevenson appeared confused after the accident, and was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
He was cited for failing to have car insurance.
