A 19-year-old Clarkson man is being lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center on charges of auto theft, burglary and criminal mischief.

Michael Luke Stone was arrested by Officer Ian Renfrow, of the Leitchfield Police Department, on Saturday, October 27 in conjunction with the theft of a 2011 Chevrolet pick-up truck which had been stolen earlier in the day from a residence on High Street in Leitchfield, according to a press release from Detective Kevin Smith.

After being alerted to the vehicle theft, Smith explained that Renfrow located the truck, which was unoccupied, in the parking lot of JC’s Cigarette Outlet on South Main Street. While Renfrow was at the location, Grayson County E-911 Dispatch received an alarm from within the business.

The release says that Renfrow them made contact with Stone at the location and, “through investigation discovered that in addition to JC’s Cigarette Outlet, another business had also been burglarized.”

Investigation into the incident and potential related incidents is still ongoing, Smith said on Friday, and additional information may be released later.

Stone was placed under arrest for theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, two counts of burglary in the third degree, and two counts of criminal mischief in the first degree.

The Leitchfield Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department as well as Kentucky State Police.
