Two Breckinridge County teens lost their lives in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, August 23.

According to a report from Breckinridge County Sheriff Chief Deputy Bruce Anthony, Matthew Chase Coyler, 18, of McDaniels, was traveling East on Highway 79 when he lost control of his 2001 Lincoln LS and went off the roadway.

Around 1:30 a.m,, after leaving the road Coyler’s car went over an embankment and struck a utility pole at the intersection of Hwy 79 and Hwy 259 in Axtel.

Both Coyler and Kayln Whitworth, 17, of Hardinsburg, who was a passenger in the Lincoln, died at the scene, reported Anthony.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Coyler was a 2009 graduate of Breckinridge County High School, where he was active in FFA and a member of the Fighting Tiger football team.

Whitworth was a senior at Breckinridge County High School, where she was a member of the Lady Tiger softball and basketball teams.
