The cooperation of three local law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of three individuals as well as the clean up of a methamphetamine lab Saturday, August 1.

According to a report released from the Grayson County Sheriff Rick Clemons, a tip was received that Jeff Critchelow, 51, of Leitchfield was carrying a large amount of meth.

Sheriff Detective Terry Blanton contacted Leitchfield City Police Officer Jeff Helvey, who was able to stop Critchelow at Loflin’s Auto Parts during a traffic stop.

“With the amount of meth he had on him and the fact we have been investigating him for about two months allowed us to obtain a search warrant for his residence Hooper-Barton Road,” said Blanton.

When police arrived at the residence two females were arrested and a male, Charles Russell, fled on foot.

Deputy Sheriff Bryan Hammons located an active meth lab in the garage of the residence and Lydia Minton, 44, of Caneyville and Pamela Russell, 26, of Leitchfield were both arrested at the residence and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and are being held at the Grayson County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.

The State police K-9 and handler Seth Lee were called to the scene and tracked Charles Russell for over two miles, reported Blanton. As of press time Tuesday, Russell was still at large and police are asking anyone with any information as to his whereabouts to contact them.

Critchelow was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and manufacturing methamphetamine and is currently at the Grayson County Detention Center being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

The state police DESI unit assisted with the clean up of the meth lab.

“When we all work together in a combined effort the citizens of Grayson County are the winners and the criminals are the losers,” said Clemons. “Our anonymous tip line has be very beneficial in tying certain cases together and helping us combat the drug problem.”

Anyone with any information on the sale or distribution of an illegal substance can report it to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department at (270) 200-2222. All tips may remain anonymous.
