Talk about a rainy Fourth of July weekend....

Even though it was a rainy holiday, people made the most of it.

My family and I went to the Rumble over Rough River Fourth of July fireworks event. It was so much fun.

We thought it was going to be cancelled, because of the rain. My aunt suggested that we go ahead and chance traveling to the Falls of Rough area.

I am glad we took her up on her recommendation.

The attendance was down quite a bit though. I figured a lot of people thought it was cancelled.

When we arrived we decided to go to the gazebo area, and listen to music. Twilight Tunes, a dee jay from out of town, was playing.

One of the most memorable moments of the night was watching my kids attempt to do the electric slide.

My mother and Savannah learned the steps quickly. Addison gave up pretty fast, and decided to make up her own dance moves. Her signature move was just shaking her butt while standing in place.

That was the most fun I have had in a long time.

I have been to several dances, formal and casual in my life, but Saturday’s event was my favorite.

I got to spend it with several people that I love.

My aunt and uncle seemed to be having a good time too. They were that random couple in the back who would move their feet when nobody was looking, ha.

That is one thing I love about my mom. Her and I aren’t too afraid to go out in front of an audience and act silly with the kids. I love my mom so much!

The Rough River event made me realize that you have just as much fun close to home, as you can far away.

There are so many things that people can enjoy here in Grayson County.

The best part about Saturday night was that it didn’t really cost much money at all.

I spent five dollars on the kids, and you would have thought I gave them a million.

They both wanted one of the blow up guitars, and glow-in-the-dark bracelets.

It was so funny watching those two jamming out on their guitars.

After finishing our line dancing, it was time to watch the fireworks display.

It was so nice just relaxing with family and friends.

Of course we had to take pictures for facebook, ha.

This allows other family members and friends to keep up with our lives through photos.

As for the fireworks, it was better than in year’s past. Twilight Tunes synchronized their music to the fireworks. The kids for the most part seemed to like it all.

The downed attendance was expected, because of the bad weather. I hate it for the organizers though.

After the fireworks event my family and I went to Little Dave’s restaurant. We stopped to use the restroom, but ended up getting something to eat. You could smell the aroma mixture of fresh-baked bread and pizza sauce upon entering. Little Dave’s is located on South Highway 259 in Mc Daniels.

They offer a variety of foods from barbeque to stromboli. I love restaurants like that, which are privately owned and operated. It gives a more down home feel for customers. For the price, you get a lot of food. One meal could feed two people. I personally would recommend the calzone. The girls and I split one. We loved it!

All of us were so tired by the time we left the restaurant.

Talk about an eventful day. Our next outing will be the Freedom Festival, which will be held this weekend behind the Grayson County Middle School.

I am so excited to participate in the festivities.

It promises to be a great time!!
