Items that were originally stolen from Rainbow Lanes were several five-pin-setter tables and lane sweeps.
Leitchfield Police Detective Kevin Smith said that Bradley S. Hayes, 21, of Leitchfield and Calvin L. Hayes, 21, also of Leitchfield, were arrested and charged on May 30 with receiving stolen property under $10,000.
“Some of the items had been sold as scrap to a local dealer,” Smith explained, “and have been recovered. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.”
Bradley was released last month from the Grayson County Detention Center on a $2,500 surety bond, and Calvin was released on a $2,500 cash bond.
LPD officer Chris Bates made the arrests on both men.
Smith added that officers are still seeing a regular occurrence of thefts in the city. The problems this time is originating from people leaving valuable possessions in unlocked vehicles.
“The Leitchfield Police Department is currently investigating several cases involving the thefts and attempted theft of items from unlocked vehicles,” Smith stressed. “We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to make sure to remove the keys and lock all doors when your vehicle is unattended. Also, never leave items of value, such as purses, laptop computers, and GPS units in a vehicle if it can be avoided. “
