The Pontiac Bonneville driven by 19-year-old Shawn England is unrecognizable after colliding with a S-10 pickup driven by the late Krista Berger of Falls of Rough. Berger died from injuries she sustained in the accident.
A two-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a Falls of Rough woman and a local teen being transported to a Louisville hospital.
According to the Grayson County Deputy Sheriff Michael Colvin, Krista Berger, 36, was traveling east on Highway 54 in a Chevy S-10 pickup around 6:45 a.m. when the vehicle crossed over the center line and into the west bound lane. Bergers’ vehicle collided with the Pontiac Bonneville driven by 19-year-old Shawn England.
Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson reported Berger was fatally injured immediately at impact and the cause of death was blunt force trauma. Berger was an employee of Kaye’s Cafe in Clarkson.
England was flow to The University of Louisville hospital by Lifenet for multiple injuries after he was extricated from the vehicle by the Leitchfield Fire Department, reported Colvin. As of press time Friday England was listed in fair condition at U of L Hospital.
“There was possible cell phone activity at the time of the accident,” said Colvin. “But the time of the activity has not been verified yet.”
There where no passengers in either vehicle.
