It is nearly time for the Kentucky State Fair, and the Grayson County Tourism Commission will once more host a booth to showcase our county, along with its attractions and goods to fair-goers.

County Tourism Director Brittany Gary said that the group has two adjoining booths which will be manned by volunteers each day of the fair, from Thursday, August 16 through Sunday, Aug 26.

Gary is excited that the booths will have a theme this year, and is focusing on the lakes with display cases of fishing items, and primitive lake items.

She explained that in the past years, a lot of the people who stopped by the county’s booth were either retired and had lake homes in Grayson County or were planning to retire and looking for a lake home.

The lake-cabin theme will put the spotlight on Nolin and Rough River Lakes as a great place to visit or retire to. Some of the items from local businesses which Gary plans to take along and display work well with the theme, including a log furniture table that Jacobs Log Furniture is building for the group to use at the event, and pieces from Caught Ya Lookin’, Rocky Top Crafts and Country Squire Antiques.

Gary said that in addition to these items, she is happy to take literature or give-away items such as pens from local organizations and businesses along with her and display them at the county’s booth. These items and information do not need to be lake-themed.

Anyone wishing to send something to the tourism commission’s booth needs to make sure that they either drop them off at the Centre on Main or arrange for them to be picked up by Monday, August 19.
