Despite a low attendance for the Clarkson Job and Resource Expo, plans are to revisit the event again in the fall.
Estimated attendance for June 27 was only 30 people, but that did not include the 16 vendors and four presenters who participated. The Clarkson Baptist Church, located on Elizabethtown Road, was the site for the first expo. The next job and resource fair is scheduled to happen in late October or early November.
Representative Doris Mc Cugh said she was hoping for a better turnout, but was optimistic for the future.
One of the major things that was lacking with the June 27 event was the participation of businesses and industries. Mc Cugh did however receive a lot of participation from the educational community.
"When we decided to take on the expo," she explained, "it was a new idea. I did not see as much participation as I would have liked. The next time, hopefully, it will get bigger and better. I was pleased with the people that showed up though."
Several in attendance made comments that they were anxious to participate in the fall event.
"People are already looking forward to the next time," Mc Cugh mentioned. "Once they get used to it (job and resource fair), they will better understand what we are trying to accomplish."
The fall expo is expected to pull additional resources from surrounding locations; like Bowling Green and Elizabethtown.
Anyone wanting to take part in the fall expo, in some way, is urged to contact Mc Cugh by phone at 1-502-724-7548.
