The Cougars got 26 points from center Justin Stewart, 13 of which came in the second period as the Cougars fought to overcome an early Tiger lead that reached seven points twice in the first period. The Tigers' Jon Fletcher led his team with 11 points, but all those points came in the first half. The Tiger big man went scoreless in the second half when the Cougars put the game away.
Breck pulled out to a 6-0 lead before the Cougars could break into the scoring column. The Tiger lead reached seven at 12 -5, then at 14-7 with 1:22 left in the first period. Grayson County managed to close to within three points of the lead, 14-11 heading into the second period.
The Cougars took their first lead of the game, 19-18 after Stewart hit one-of-three free throws at the 3:59 mark. The lead changed hands a couple of times before the Cougars put on a surge, leading by five three times before the Tigers hit the last shot of the first half to cut it to three, 30-27 at the intermission.
The Tigers opened the third period by scoring two quick basket to regain the lead at 31-30 at the 4:51 mark, but it was all Cougars after that. Grayson County outscored the Tigers 22-2 closing out the period to grab a 52-33 lead heading into the final stanza. They ended the period with a 14-0 run over the final 3:01.
The Cougars kept their run going in the fourth quarter, making it 17 unanswered points before Breck finally scored again with 4:23 remaining to be played. Coach George Meredith emptied his bench in the fourth period, allowing all of his players to see some action.
Brandon Embry and Jared Clemons both scored nine points for the Cougars while Graham Huffman added six. Kyle Hughes and Brett Clemons had five each, Jon Meredith added three and Jordan Drake had one to close out the Cougar scoring. Grayson County is now 11-4 on the season, while Breck falls to 1-2.
