GCHS DECA returned from International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta with certificates of excellence, a competitive medal, a leadership academy graduate and a Top 10 ranking.

Those who earned certificates were Lauren Allen, Hannah Ashley, Austin Clemons, Blake Davis, Kristen Davis, Ashton Filburn, Amos Goodman, Danielle Grapes, Jackson Henderson, Jessica Hughes, Wyatt Jaggers, Lauren Risinger, Mady Wieland, and Kevin Wilson. Participants must score 70 or higher in their event to receive this distinction.

Senior Jackson Henderson medaled in Human Resources for his superior performance in an event which requires both testing and two role plays.

Stefanie Glaboniat, a foreign exchange student and first-year DECA member, participated in the Ignite Leadership Academy and received a certificate for her active involvement in that event.

The chapter received special recognition as one of the Top 10 Chapters in fundraising for DECA’s signature charity, MDA, with a total of nearly $5,700. This is the fifth year since 2007 that GCHS DECA has received this honor, and the fourth year in a row. Since 1997, the chapter has generated a total of more than $80 thousand for MDA.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management, and currently boasts a record-breaking membership of more than 200 thousand. Grayson County DECA is sponsored by Cynthia Smith, Tony Embry and Gavin Logsdon.
