Clarkson Elementary took top overall honors at District Governor’s Cup competition. The team placed first in both Quick Recall and Future Problem Solving. Lawler Elementary placed second overall, as well as in Quick Recall and FPS. These teams will move on to Regional competition later in March. In addition, Lawler also received the Hume Sportsmanship Award, voted on by all schools participating in the District meet.


Individual awards were handed out to students who completed written assessments in a variety of subjects. These students will also advance to Regionals.


Caneyville: Bailey Richardson, 2nd place; Chase Richardson, 4th in science; DeAnna Decker, 4th place Composition; Eli Helm, 1st in Social Studies; Bailey Richardson, 1st place Language Arts; Matthew Woosley, 4th and Shahaley Mercer, 5th in Arts & Humanities.


Clarkson: Miles Hornbeck, 1st place Math and 3rd place Social Studies (tie); Stetson Higdon, 4th in Math; Grant Manion, 1st place Science; Mason Galloway 3rd place Social Studies (tie); Gracie Franklin, 1st, and Chloe Cox, 2nd place Arts & Humanities.


Lawler: Matthew Davis, 2nd place Math; Max Evans and Nate Pennington 5th in Science (tie); Tiffany Clark, 1st, Matthew Davis, 3rd and Braelyn Hayes, 5th in Composition; Nate Pennington, 5th place Social Studies; Taylor Acia, 2nd place and Max Evans 4th in Language Arts; and Shaina Portman 3rd place Arts & Humanities.


Wilkey: Ethan Priddy, 3rd place and Emma Griffin, 5th place in Math; Amanda Fulp, 3rd place Science; Kenzie Skaggs, 2nd place in Composition; Jacob Conder, 2nd place, Social Studies; Amanda Fulp, 3rd place and Emma Embry, 5th in Language Arts.
