Margaret Rigdon, of Hatfield Inn, recently resigned from the Grayson County Tourism Commission, according to County Tourism Director Brittany Gary.
The County Tourism Commission held a special-called meeting on Tuesday morning, July 15 to discuss who will replace Rigdon as commissioner.
Gary said three individuals’ names will be submitted to the Grayson County Fiscal Court, which will select a new county tourism commissioner from those names during its Friday, July 18 meeting.
Rigdon had served as a Grayson County tourism commissioner from 2007 to this year as a representative from Hatfield Inn, which, along with Rough River Lodge, makes up 90 percent of county tourism’s revenue, Gary said.
The Grayson County Tourism Commission, which was established in 1992, is funded by a 3 percent hotel tax, according to Gary.
Also during Tuesday’s commission meeting, Kevin Brooks was elected as the new Grayson County Tourism Commission Treasurer.
The Grayson County Tourism Commission also consists of Chairperson Ryan Bratcher, Vice-Chair Raye Montgomery, Secretary Brenda Parks, and Rough River Park Manager Michael Ricks.
County Tourism has extended invitations to the presidents of the Friends of Rough River Lake and Friends of Nolin Lake organizations to serve as non-voting commissioners, as well, Gary said.
